/away is a command that will mark you as "away" to the server you are connected to, it will be shown in your whois results and it will send a message to everyone who /msg you telling him/her that you are away and showing your away message.
Log: If checked irc-U will keep logs of the users who msg'd you while you were away and will show them to you, when you get back, in a custom window.
View: Shows the away logs (if any).
Clear: Clears the away logs (if any).
Page: If checked (and while away), it will notice you if a user sends you a /ctcp your_nick page, by flashing the irc-U window 20 times, showing in irc-U's titlebar the text "Urgent Message!" and beeping 10 times every 2 seconds.
Note that, irc-U will flash only if is not the active application.
Close queries: If checked, all query windows will be closed. If Log is on, logs will be kept.
Announce every: If checked irc-U will announce in all channels you're in that you are away, showing your away message. In the editbox, you set the time delay after which these announcements will take place (in minutes).
Away nick: If checked, you set in the editbox your 'away' nickname and when you will be set 'away' your nickname will change to this one, without affecting the nickname that you have set in the connect dialog.
Default mode: It can be either normal or silent. If silent and when set/unset away, no announcement will be made.
Away msg: Your default away message. If you use the command /away without any text following the command, this message will be used (if you're not away already).
Back msg: Your default back message. If you use the command /away without any text following the command, this message will be used (if you are away already).
Autoaway after: If checked, you set the amount of idle time (in minutes), after which you will be automatically set away.
